THE EMOJI MOVIE (2017) - We have failed as a human race.

Image
* Warning: This review contains some offensive language and humor. But like the movie totally deserves it. Continue at your own discretion. * The Emoji Movie  is a computer-animated "comedy" "film" directed by Tony Leondis (of Lilo & Stitch 2: Stitch Has a Glitch  fame) and starring T. J. Miller, James Corden, Anna Faris, Maya Rudolph, and Jake T. Austin (remember him from Wizards of Waverly Place ?). The "movie" follows our "hero" Ralph  Gene, a video game villain  emoji who feels the pressure of having to conform to his expected role in the society he lives it. He then escapes and meets up with another misfit who doesn't fit into her world-- Vanellope von Schweetz  Jailbreak. Together they go on a journey to become who they want to be, only to find themselves forced to clean up the mess they've made when their game  phone is labeled as malfunctioning and sentenced to deletion. yeah this movie is literally Wreck-It-Ralph.

DUNKIRK (2017) - A little too artful for most

Image
Dunkirk is a war film set in 1940 written, directed, and produced by Christopher Nolan. The film has an ensemble cast and stars Fionn Whitehead, Tom Glynn-Carney, Jack Lowden, Harry Styles, Mark Rylance, Barry Keoghan, Sir Kenneth Branagh, and Tom Hardy, and follows these characters throughout the battle/evacuation of Dunkirk. I'll say it right now that this is a very well done movie. Critics rave that it's the best war film of all time and easily Nolan's best work to date, and maybe they're not wrong. It's just too bad that it's so boring. It's definitely incredibly accurate at depicting what it's like to be in the middle of a real war. What I mean by that is many war movies focus more on making a good story. You get scenes where the characters get a break from the fighting and start talking to one another, revealing each other's pasts and who they have back home waiting for them. It's through these conversations that we as the audien

THE ROCK X SIRI DOMINATE THE DAY (2017) - A pure masterpiece

Image
The Rock x Siri Dominate the Day  is a 2017 epic starring Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson and Siri, everyone's favorite bad listener  voice assistant. The movie follows Johnson playing a fictionalized version of himself struggling with the oppression of reality. In order to prove himself, he sets out to overcome ten heroic, legendary feats--ten "life goals"--, undergoing both a physical and spiritual journey to reach enlightenment and discover his true self. Click on the video below to watch the full movie! The Rock x Siri Dominate the Day  is remarkable in just how perfectly it captures the nature of humanity, our strive to succeed, our crave to improve ourselves, our desire to be the best possible version of ourselves that we can be. The beginning of the film depicts the Rock at one of his lowest--his worth in the present day challenged by the media who claims that "it seems like Dwayne Johnson can't possibly take on any more." VALERIAN AND THE CITY OF A THOUSAND PLANETS (2017) - Visually beautiful, but everything else sucks

Image
Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets  is a 2017 science fiction action movie directed by Luc Besson and starring Dane DeHaan and Cara Delevingne. The movie is based on the French comic  ValĂ©rian and Laureline  and follows Major Valerian and Sergeant Laureline as they travel through various planets in order solve the mystery of a dying alien race that had almost been completely exterminated. The movie's a weird jumble of Star Wars, the Matrix, and Avatar that works in some ways, but falls flat in others This was an interesting movie because it could have easily been good or bad. The trailers immediately show that it was going to be an amazing visual experience, but a lot of times this will come at the cost of the movie's script, characters, and story. But at the same time, if the movie has at least a decent story and characters along with its amazing visuals, then it would be a really fun movie to watch. Unfortunately, the movie falls flat on its face with a

Every Harry Potter Movie Ranked

Image
Few franchises have managed to grab the hearts of millions of fans all around the world as much as the Harry Potter  series. Whether it's through the books or the movies, nearly everyone you meet has had some experience with the now 20-year old phenomenon. Starting out as a simple dream in 1990, Harry Potter eventually met the world in 1997 with its first book, selling just over 500 copies. Twenty years later, it has now sold over 400 million books worldwide and is now a multi-billion dollar movie franchise. And the reason for that is quite simple: they're really, really good. J.K. Rowling is a brilliant storyteller, creating an expansive world with intricate, highly characters. However, not all books are created equal, and especially not the movies. Don't get me wrong, all the movies are good and some are even great. All the books are great and some are even amazing (except Cursed Child , which I don't care what you say, it's not canon.) But there are definite
